Ever feel like you’re carrying around hidden tensions, self-doubt, or past hurts that weigh down your spirit? Imagine a practice that brings all of that to the surface, allowing you to face it head-on and let it melt away. EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), or tapping, is more than just a way to release stress—it’s an invitation to rediscover parts of yourself that have been buried, hidden, or silenced.
EFT and Feminine Energy: A Dance of Release
For me, EFT is a lot like the flow of burlesque. When I step onto that stage, each movement, each piece removed, is a ritual of letting go—peeling away not just clothes but layers of my own armor. With tapping, it’s the same powerful shedding, only with the mind. Feminine energy moves with us through every tap and every breath, gently guiding us to reconnect with our softer, quieter truths. It’s this blend of strength and softness, this primal feminine energy, that creates the space to heal, to reclaim, and to rise.
Tapping into Burlesque Energy
Let’s say you’re holding onto something that’s been deeply buried—a fear of being seen, perhaps, or an old belief that you’re “too much.” Here’s where tapping can open a doorway. Start with an affirmation like: “Even though I feel afraid to take up space, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.” Move through each tapping point, letting the rhythm of tapping feel like a dance. Feel your body’s natural movements as you release each word, each feeling, like an act of shedding on stage.
One of my short stories revolves around the mythic figure of Persephone. In it, she isn’t just a victim—she’s a queen of her own descent, using the darkness around her as a cocoon, a transformative space. EFT allows us to do something similar: to sit with our shadows, acknowledging them, but also honoring our power to change. Imagine each tap as Persephone’s own steps as she journeys to and from the underworld, reclaiming her strength with every beat.
Try This Yourself: A Burlesque-Inspired EFT Ritual
- Set the Scene – Dim the lights, put on music that makes you feel sensual, empowered, and alive.
- Acknowledge Your Feeling – Choose a specific thought or feeling to address. Feel it in your body, the way a performer feels the weight of the crowd’s gaze.
- Tap and Affirm – Start tapping through the points: “Even though I feel ______, I am safe, I am powerful, and I am reclaiming all of me.” Notice how your body responds, how each word becomes lighter, softer, like a veil falling away.
- Release – As you finish, take a deep breath, feeling the weight of what you’ve released. Imagine yourself as Persephone—emerging from the underworld, newly crowned in your power.
This is more than tapping; it’s a reclamation of everything that makes you you. Burlesque and tapping are both about embracing who you are, fully and without apology, and finding that space where feminine energy meets radical self-acceptance. Ready to give it a try?
